Celebrating My Mommy (Tina Brito) for Womens Month

March is Women’s History Month, a great time to celebrate women who have had a positive impact on the world and also on your own life.

I just had to write a post about my favorite person, MOM. A positive impact would be an understatement for all of things she has done for me even until now at 33. Most of us sum of our love through poems and quotes but I wanted to share few moves my Mom made with me growing up that makes her a Model Mom.

First off my Mom was girly girl Mom, lol. She would take us out of school so we can have girl days. We would get our nails done, eat crunchies and munchies chicken, donuts and watch movies. By the way our Donut runs were in Gaineville, Florida and we lived in Ocala so that let’s you know how serious we took KRISPY KREMES.

My Mom was very known throughout the community so she when a party came (I was always dying to go) 9 times out of 10 she would let me go but you better believe she knew all the details of the party from the host to the D.J.

Back in the day when Juvenile “drop it like its hott” came out my mom, a few friends and family members went to enjoy ourselves in the country and all I remember that night is everyone saying “Go Tina” “Go Tina” Lol, hilarious. We were doing exactly what the song said.

When I was 16, I got a job at Wendys (My Mom helped, duh). Long story short the manager had Beef with me, lol and I refused to clean the front room. My Mom was called I explained the story and she came up there and she ended up vacuuming the floor of Wendys for me so I could keep my job. WOW

Growing up me and my sister had a Wall of Fame, all of our friends that came upstairs to our room was able to write on the 1 wall by the window. It was really cool. My sister the artist had drawings on the other walls with our names on it in beautiful color...shoulda seen it!

One thing that I still do til this day is wake up on Sundays and play some Mississippi Mass Choir. Sundays were totally awesome. My Mom had a banging stereo system and wasn’t scared to turn it up. We would sing our hearts out to the old school hymns and hits of the 70’s (Mahaila Jackson) 80’s Mississippi Mass choir and 90’s (John P. Kee) just to give you a lil insight.

The best times were taking the scenic route to Lake Weir (the outskirts of Ocala) to see some of the spots she would go to as a kid and show us where family had once lived (some are still there). I remember riding down the long road with orange trees on both sides while listening to Mary J. Blige, "You remind Me" or Jodeci "Gotta get on up". We would ride slow through the town as my Mom would point and tell stories about things she remembered.

As my 34th birthday creeps up on me I look forward to her text and calls each day telling me the things we did when she was pregnant with me, the places we would go, and the funny stories to go along with them.

ALL IN ALL, I’ll always Love my Mama! She is the reason I am who I am today and I couldn’t  be happier. I want to take the time to let her know that she means the world to me. Feel  free to follow my blog and let me know who means everything to you and why!
