Ma Barker
13254 E Ocklawaha Highway, Ocklawaha, Fla.
Ma Barker was fresh off a string of high-profile robberies throughout the Midwest when she and her son Fred headed down to to hide out. The two posed as a couple needing a vacation rental, but the FBI caught wind of the Most Wanted woman's plans and surprised the Barkers with a 7:15 a.m. shootout. The five-hour melee killed both Ma and her son, and the volley of bullet holes left behind are still visible in the 4-bed, 2-bath home today.

Much
of the home, actually, is frozen in time from the 1935 shooting. Still owned by
the family who once rented the place to the Barkers, the property recently.
Gator Joe's Beach Bar and Grill in Ocklawaha (est. 1926), Florida was named after a large alligator that lived in Lake Weir. The FBI killed Fred and Ma Barker in Ocklawaha, Florida (Marion County), after the FBI discovered "Ma" by tracking letters she sent to her other son, telling him about "Gator Joe". The restaurant's website displays a wanted poster for the Barker-Karpis gang. To see a little bit of the history along with WANTED poster visit http://www.gatorjoesocala.com/history.html
THEY SAY:
-She died in the Upper Left bedroom
-Their bodies were put on public display,
and then stored unclaimed, until October 1, 1935
-FBI Agents discovered the hideout of Ma
Barker and her son, Fred, after Arthur "Doc" ----Barker (her son) was arrested in
Chicago on January 8, 1935 (I'm sure he told them absolutely nothing about their location....YEA RIGHT)
Lala: How weird, scary, cool is THAT! These 2 were thuggin it back in the day. Ole' Ma did what she could to keep her 5 boys out of harms way. In the end she got it how she lived and so did her boys.
